The ICCR and SEHER organised
the SAARC Artists’ Camp in Jan 2007. The coming
together of 25 artists from the eight SAARC
nations – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India,
Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, created
an ambience that was evocative, allowing the
solitude to paint, and yet evoking a feeling
of togetherness, sharing and feeling connected.
The camp was vastly different as it not only
provided a place and opportunity to paint but
tried to surround the artists with other contemporary
versions of imaginative creativity such as music,
poetry and dance. The camp reiterated the fact
that creativity flourishes in an atmosphere
of harmony and friendship.
