| Children
at Rashtrapati Bhawan
Seher organized a cultural programme at
the Rashtrapati Bhawan on the 14th November
2003 to celebrate the Children’s Day
wherein young Odissi dancers performed
along with slum children presented a
Puppet show. Seher showcased three young
Odissi dancers who performed a specially
choreographed short item for the event.
These children were brought in from
Govindpuri Bhoomiheen slum clusters
and most of them were studying in Kathashala,
an institution for the slum dwellers
of J.J.Colony. These children performed
a play based on the theme of elephants
getting endangered and a puppet show
on water conservation in front of President
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and 600 other children
from slum areas. For the children from
Govindpuri slums, this perhaps will
be the first opportunity to showcase
their talents in front of the President
of India.
