Festival
The Qutub Festival of Classical Music and Dance
is held in the month of November-December to
commemorate the historical importance of Qutub
Minar. Organized in collaboration with Delhi
Tourism, the Qutub Festival showcases the rich
grandeur of India and its cultural accomplishments
in the various forms of dance and music. This
way, the Festival attempts to bring the heritage
monument to life and provides a platform for
preservation of classical Indian art.
Set against the majestic backdrop of the Qutub
Minar itself, this annual cultural extravaganza
is an endeavor to present a cross section of
performances by various Indian artistes. Spread
over three days, the festival is dedicated to
the youth of Delhi and brings the whole place
alive with the echoes of soulful melodies and
rhythm of the ghungroos. Visitors to this exotic
dance festival can expect to see classical dance
performance by reputed artists, listen to beautiful
renditions of ghazals and qawwalis and be mesmerized
by Sarangi and sitar recitals.
The festival attracts large numbers of visitors,
amongst which a sizeable portion are foreigners,
eager to glimpse at the rich cultural heritage
of India. As your eyes feast on the cultural
extravaganza of music and dance, treat your
palate to culinary delights that are available
at the stalls put up by different states. |
