London Festivals: India and the UK have a shared history. SEHER, throughout the years, has played an instrumental part in bringing the beauty of Indian art and culture to London and creating spaces where Londoners and tourists can experience India!
Dilli Haat in London:
Organized in association with the Mayor of London and the Government of Delhi, SEHER brought the beauty of Dilli Haat to Trafalgar Square, London. The famous Dilli Haat, which once enchanted Prince Charles on his visit to India in 2003, was recreated at Trafalgar Square, London for thou-sands of visitors thronging the famous square. The two-day event, which saw a record crowd of over 50,000 people witnessed the purity of Manipuri by Priti Patel and Troupe and the sensitivity of the traditional Odissi repertoire by Madhavi Mudgal and Troupe. The contemporary music of India was represented by the Indian Ocean, the well-known band from Delhi and immersive and interac-tive folk performances by Garba Raas dancers from Gujarat! The event established Trafalgar Square as a cultural venue in times to come and thereafter SEHER put up the second Trafalgar Square festival in 2007.
SEHER also presented one of the most iconic programs of Indian culture in the Houses of Parlia-ment in London with a special lecture demonstration in the House of Lords for its members.
Regent Street Festival: On September 2nd, 2007, the Mayor of London and Greater London Au-thority selected SEHER to organize the India Now campaign in London through the Regent Street Festival. More than 50 artists, craftsmen and weavers from India traveled to the UK to promote In-dian handicrafts, textiles, and the classical and folk traditions of India. The festival saw a footfall of nearly 100,000 people in one day. The traffic at the famous Regent Street in London was stopped for Indian artists to perform in a special festive setting.
